Assuming the panel has been ready.

Make sure:
1) antenna fixed
2) power connected
3) at least one sensor (e.g. door contact or motion detector) has been learnt
4) the STATUS LED on the front panel is GREEN or flashing GREEN that means correct SIM card has been inserted and GSM network signal is detected

Now use another phone, prepare this SMS message

123456#10#12345678901#

send it to the phone number of the SIM card inside the alarm panel

you must be able to see the STATUS LED flashing RED for a while, that means SMS received

Now it should be ready to send alert by calling the no. 12345678901 defined above.

Remark:
1) 123456 above is the password
2) 10 following the first phone number to call

How iPhone support for Standalone DVR 8100 series

please go Apple App Store and download a iPhone App called APlayer ( or Meye) and connecting your handheld to the DVR.

Aplayer is a freeware for surveillance.

At the moment, for 8100 series, the native mobile support only for Symbians and Windows Mobile. Specific client can be downloaded.

There is a limitation with the aplayer on iPhone. It is you cannot change the channel on mobile is not the issue from DVR. Other mobile clients liked Windows Mobile without issue on this aspect.

Because the Aplayer is a free stuff and not developed in-house, we are unable to enhance it.

In addition, the PTZ control of camera is also not yet available from Aplayer.

And, for the time being, our own native mobile client for iPhone is not yet available.

iTouch support:
iTouch is not in the support list at the moment. though iTouch and iPhone both runs on the same iPhone OS, spec said iTouch offers less features.

There is a bug in the CXG4D and the original SMS configuration command is not working.

Instead you need to set the jumpers of your sensors.

i double check our set, the SMS is working.

because it talks about the SMS, if one command working, there is very unlikely another one not working, as all inside the firm not parts.

one possible reason probably the internal programming messed up, can you kindly do a reset of the alarm, configure the sensors again and test this function.

Because there are several version of the same items, please take noted the very first step is to find the label on the pan-tilt about the correct operating voltage, any in-appropriate power supply will likely damage the circuit and void the warranty.

The connection is simple, you suggest opening the case beforehand.

You just need to connect two things.

1) The AC power input of correct voltage
2) RS 485 control cables to your controlling device. e.g. DVR.

Steps:

1) choose the protocol and ID

2) connecting the camera

3) connect RS485

4) connect 24V AC power of the pan-tilt

GSM Alarm: Difference between CXG4D and NHG9D and LMG3T

While all three models are GSM Burglar Alarm, they are actually older and newer models with same basic operations with different enhancements.

NHG9D and LMG3T are two older versions.

NHG9D is a dual band version supporting only GSM 900 and 1800 while LMG3T is a tri-band version basically for USA that supports GSM 900, 1800 and 1900. In addition, LMG3T is specially with built-in backup battery while NHG9D not.

CXG4D is a newer version at higher price, this new version has more than older one including:

1) support 5 wired plus 16 wireless
2) with built-in battery
3) better SMS e.g. power on/off notification
4) 24 hours defense zone, etc.

By default it is Closed Circuit Triggered and this water leak detector is NO, therefore, you need to change the input zone from NC to NO by default, then when there is water leakage, the poles touching ground closed, it will alarm.

By default it is Closed Circuit Triggered, therefore, your sensors should be in a NO status.

Basically most sensors no problem for being NC or NO.

One example need to adjust is door contact, it's NC. So when your door open, door contact will not trigger alarm as it opens the circuit instead. While you close the door, alarm triggered.

To make it fit, you need to change the input zone from NC to NO by default, then when your door open, it open the circuit, just fit and will alarm.

the SMS for example is

Acttually so far the unit not support type 3,4,5,6,7 as old version manual said and once you put in SMS command to change zone type liked 3,4,5,6,7, things may mess up, i would suggest if you find alarm not normally operated, should have it reset to factory setting and re-learn the sensors and remote controls.

DDNS is supported by the DVR and the service is very popular. Setting up is straight forward, if not working, may use something else to help troubleshooting.

8100 series supports dyndns.org, we can also use other service to double check the problem.

for example, no-ip.com

1) download no-ip client and have it installed a computer.
2) register a no-ip website
3) use it to check if your site now can be assessed via no-ip website

* of course, make sure port forward 80 to the DVR internal IP address at router *

Remarks:
1) some routers supports DDNS, you can also make use of it, not necessarily to use the native DDNS function inside DVR.

Step by step:

- Again, start from simple
- make sure you SIM card work by putting in your mobile phone, check it can dial and send and receive SMS.
- put SIM card into GSM IV Alarm, make sure contact fit the contact points
- fasten the antenna, also make sure fastened, not loosen
- put in the power adapter, press on the CONFIG switch at the back to make the second left-most LED turns and stays on RED
- now trigger remote control, door sensor and motion detector one by one, you will see RED LED flashes because receiving signal
- press on CONFIG switch again to leave the configuration mode, LED will turns flashing RED and then wait for a while, it goes to GREEN
- use your remote control to check if operational

Step by step:

- start from simpliest setup
- connect only the power cord, make sure 24V AC with 2A is connecting (recommend confirming the voltage and current by a handheld meter)
- the speed dome should start with a self-test, you'll see it rotating horizontally and vertically
- disconnect the power
- set switches on speed dome for protocol and baud rate and ID, make sure they match exactly your controlling device
- connect the RS485 cable, make -ve and +ve correct, no reversed.
(recommend have both controlling device and speed dome side by side with a few meters cable length)
- with both ends systems reboot
- see if working.

if not, suggest
- change something one by one, repeat above sequence if suitable
e.g. change cable, change setting, controlling device, or even speed dome, just to find more information for troubleshooting.

Image sensor is the most important component for any CCTV security camera. This image sensor converts light into a digital signal. The two most basic types today are CCD (Charged Coupled Devices) and CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensors.

For those novice or seasoned technie, it sometimes may just be confusing whether should choose CMOS or CCD camera as part of your security solution. I would like to share some of my ideas - lest not professional enough.

Honestly speaking, each type of image sensor has its advantages and disadvantages; in particular, both camps have enhanced their technologie and productions in order to compete with the one another. Neither type of image sensor dare to say completely superior to the other, probably all talking about is the suitability to different applications.

Hope it is not too technical. One major difference between CCD and CMOS is that a CCD requires that other circuitry, such as amplifiers, digitizers and noise correction circuits, are installed in a device in addition to the sensor. This takes up more space in a device and requires more power to energize all the circuitry. But CMOS sensors contain all these circuits in the chip itself which allows entire cameras to consist of one chip. This configuration uses much less space and consumes far less power.

CCD and CMOS sensors can both produce high quality images when they are properly designed. CCD chips have traditionally been the standard for scientific imaging, photography and industrial imaging due to their higher image quality and low noise. CMOS has traditionally been used in less expensive devices such as cheap cameras and cell phones where cost, space and power consumption must be kept at a minimum. There is much less differentiation between the application of CCD and CMOS sensors now. CMOS manufacturers have made great improvements in the image quality that can be obtained, while CCD manufacturers have improved the power consumption and package size. As a result, more and more of the less expensive cameras and cell phones utilize CCD technology and you find CMOS sensors being used in professional and industrial devices.

Last but not least, I think two facts are interested. The first is the CCD inventors ( two professors ) are awarded Nobel Prizes for the invention in 2009. The second may be price telling the truth - do you think for a Japanese car price you can buy a BMW? So if it is a general phenomenon, premium is required for quality - just if the quality is essential to you.

By default, the GSM alarm is using NC. That's circuit open will alarm.

Most wired sensors (door contacts, PIR motion detectors, gas leakage detector, smoke detector, etc) have two wires. Connecting one wire to i1, i2, or i3 of the alarm panel, and another one wire to the GROUND of alarm panel. That's all.

Alarm panel got 3 inputs, so you can define 3 zones. Of course, you can connect all your sensors in series or in parallel, just depends on which cabling will better fit your situation.

the connection is simple.

do you see label adhered on the cables?

most importantly, you should ONLY connect 24V AC to the cable labelled 24V AC, this is the power cord.

** other voltage will destroy circuit **

it's using RS 485 to control, that takes only 2 wires, do you see the wires with label 485? there is + and -, just connecting them to your controlling device - maybe a DVR.

then provide power and video connection to your camera separately.

Actually there is no limit for number of wired sensors. You can connect them in series or parallel for your convenience. there are 3 wired zones.

at this moment, the GSM Alarm supports NC by default. In the future version, it will enhance to accommodate both NC and NO configurable.

Any device that can generate standard alarm signal for alert will be supported.

GSM IV Alarm: Amendment to user manual

Due to the continuous enhancement on the burglar alarm system, the manual on your hand may not updated with the system, please take a look on this article for some updated information.

1. Change of Zone Type

The zone type of this version cannot be changed. Please don't use those command inside manual to change the zone types as it will mess up other operation. Should you have done that, please reset unit to factory setting and reconfigure the sensors and remote controllers again.

To make sure of different zone types, please use the proper jumper settings with sensors.

2. Change of Zone Name

The zone can also be changed. But just with your SMS command, you cannot change the zone type together to types including 3,4,5,6 and 7. That means inside your SMS command you can only use 0,1 or 2.

3. The unit supports only 900 and 1800. The manual says supporting also 850 and 1900 that is for another version with higher pricing and can only be offered upon request.

Firstly, the dialing out cannot be disabled.

However, the alarm siren can be adjusted by alter the type of your alarm plus make use the design of away arm and home arm.

There are six types of alarm:
1) entrance
2) perimeter
3) burglary
4) urgency
5) fire
6) gas leak

1,2,3 above will sound
4 is silent
5,6 is another kind of sound

By default,
away arm: all above will active
home arm: 3 will be inactive, all else active

then i think you adjust the default active types for home arm, code is

xx is zone # from 01-16
y is 0-6 means the type of alarm above, 0 is not meaningful.

GSM Alarm (e.g. NHG9D) is designed for even layman and professional as well. The configuration and setup is simple and user-friendly.

The step is straight forward as:
1) turn on the alarm
2) the first phase of boot up is the setup phrase, during this period users can just trigger compatible detectors, alarm will record the signal and allocate zone automatically.
3) if no more signal received, the configuration mode will be timeout automatically and go into the operation mode that works as normal. Now the detector can be used.

Probably this 5018 can fit Panasonic WV-CW860A as the diameter of the junction both 58mm and the arm of 5018 is 180mm long that enough to accomodate CW860A dome that's only 100mm in radius.

Unfortunately NO at this moment.

Because there are relatively fewer users using Safari, no manufacturers really interested in allocating resources and develop DVR software for Macintosh platform.

I would suggest Macintosh users should try to use Internet Explorer for Mac (also referred to as Internet Explorer for Macintosh, Internet Explorer Macintosh Edition, Internet Explorer:mac or IE:mac). It should be compatiable and can use to monitor the DVR ordered from best-china-security-supplies.com.

The following sequence of DG900 or DG900A is normal.

1. Power on - Display "PREPAREING" - after a couple of seconds -
2. Display "FOUND CARD" - after a couple of seconds -
3. Display "SEARCH CONN" - after a couple of seconds -
4. Display a numberic string
5. Then "STARTUP"
6. Finally it stops at a number string with a bar of strength of signal at the far right hand side of LCD.

Error Situation:

1. Display "03 00 04" - please check the connection of your antenna

You should also make sure the correct version of dialer supporting the correct GSM networks in your local countries.

sorry, we don't do installation for buyers.

however, we do configure each set we sold to make it ready for use. All you need to do probably mount the detectors and connect the power and also learn the basic operation of the unit from our manual included. All are straight forward, actually buyers all do it themselves.

The DG900 is an universal dialer, operation is simple, just put in an analog phone. then it can be used to make outbound call and accept inbound call via GSM mobile network.

For integrating with a certain branded alarm panel, it depends on the operation of the panel itself on the contrary. If your panel provide a landline telephone interface, basically this GSM dialer will enable it to use GSM network instead for where no landline available.

For some features liked remote configuration via phone, we would suggest having a testing as there are too many alarm panel in the market of different working standards.

Setup is straight forward.

1) Have your SIM card ready. Make sure which GSM network your service provider is providing.
2) put in the SIM card into the slot of dialer.
3) connect phone cord to your alarm system
4) connect the antenna
5) connect the power
6) press the red power button at the back
7) look at the small LCD, check the boot up message (note the font of the display is a bit strange, but in english), check if there is error reported.

To test, you can
1) connect an ordinary analog telephone
2) use it to make an outbound
3) make incoming call to the GSM dialer (using the SIM telephone no.)

However, it has no difference from a mobile phone and, on the other hand, fax machines are using the telephone line liked a phone just their terminating equipment are fax instead of phone. Therefore, as long as the line is stable, using as fax line should have no problem.

2) How to calculate the checksum byte by using 232Analyzer
Suppose you are controlling camera 1 (address 1) to pan left at normal speed, the command string of the first 6 bytes would be: A0 00 00 04 20 00 AF

Go to "Checksum Calculator" pane, choose "Hex" as "Operands format" and "xOr" as Operator. Then key in all the bytes in the "Input operands" box. Remember to add "," after each byte of data. You will then get the result of "2B", which is the checksum byte.

Now the full string of pan left at normal speed command would be A0 00 00 04 20 00 AF 2B

3) Pelco-P command string examples
Camera Address: 1
Pan Left at normal speed: A0 00 00 04 20 00 AF 2B
Pan Right at normal speed: A0 00 00 02 20 00 AF 2D
Tilt Up at normal speed: A0 00 00 08 00 20 AF 27

Note: the controlled cameras will respond by sending back Acknowledgement data

4) How to use 232Analyzer to control the Pelco-P cameras

Note: Make sure your COM port settings match the settings of the cameras.

Suppose you are controlling camera address no. 1 to pan left at medium speed (command string: A0 00 00 04 20 00 AF 2B )

Way 1: From the command pane - choose "Hex" as the TX data format and key in the command string "A0,00,00,04,20,00,AF,2B," in the input box as shown below and then click on "Send" button. The command will then be sent out immediately and you will notice the camera panning left continuously.

Note: If you are using the FREE Version, choose "Dec" as TX data format and key in "160,0,0,4,32,0,175,43,"

Way 2: From Programmable buttons

Download and unzip the Pelco-DP.zip file, then open "Pelco-P.232" file from 232Analyzer program. When you click on the first button "Lef", the command will be sent out after 500ms

5) Have fun playing with 232Analyzer and Pelco-P cameras

The programmable buttons 1 to 8 will trigger the camera's action continuously. To stop, you have to send out the "Stop" command "A0 00 00 00 00 00 AF 0F" (or "160 000 000 004 032 000 175 043" in Decimal format) to the camera.

"Pelco-P.232" file allows you to send two (2) commands with the click of a button, e.g. when you click on "Lef" button on the second row (button no. 9), the camera will pan left for 500ms and then stop. This is because button no. 9 is linked to button 17, which stores the "Stop" command. (Note: Programmable buttons 9 to 16 will trigger the camera's action for 500ms and will stop automatically).

You may program it in such a way that the camera pans left for 500ms, stops, tilts up for 1000ms, stops, tilts down for 500ms, and then pans right continuously. All sorts of actions can be done through "Programmable Buttons" or "Macros" functions.

I start this article by informing everyone that I am not an engineer or computer expert, however I happen to know a few of them and they happen to work a few feet away from me! So with that said, I would like to make a few points about h.264 vs mpeg4 as it concerns the Video Surveillance Industry and its' importance.

Just a quick note, if you want the laymen's version of this article, just skip to the bottom, and yes PCSurveillance will soon be able to offer our PC based DVR Systems with h.264 in the near future! First a quick overview of the two formats:
MPEG-4:

� MPEG-4 is a standard used to compress audio and visual data. The MPEG-4 standard is generally used for streaming media and CD distribution, video conversation, and broadcast television. MPEG-4 incorporates many features of MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and other related standards.

� MPEG-4 is able to crunch massive video files into small pieces that are able to be sent over a wireless network.

� Perhaps more important are the interactive features that MPEG-4 offers. It allows the video to function almost like a Web page, but still allowing people to interact with the picture on the screen or to manipulate individual elements in real time.

� MPEG-4 also allows other types of content to be bundled into a file, such as video or images. These files require special software to play.

� MPEG-4 allows the interactivity of video which may opens potential to do far more than just point and click at links on the screen. Individual elements of the video like characters, a sporting event, a space ship in a science-fiction epic can exist in a separate layer from the rest of the video. This allows viewers to interact with these elements somehow, even changing the direction of the story.
H.264:

� Also known as MPEG-4 Part 10 or AVC (for Advanced Video Coding).

� Is becoming the new standard for format convergence in the digital video industry regardless of the video playback platform. Big Internet players like Google/YouTube, Adobe, and Apple iTunes have all backed this cross-platform.

� H.264 standard is jointly maintained with MPEG so that they have identical technical content.

� The intention behind H.264/AVC project was to provide good video quality at substantially lower bit rates than previous standards. An additional goal was to provide enough flexibility to allow the standard to be applied to a wide variety of applications on a wide variety of networks and systems.

� H.264/AVC/MPEG-4 Part 10 contains multi-picture/inter-picture prediction including features like using previously-encoded pictures as a reference in a more flexible way than in past standards, in some instances allowing up to 32 picture references.

� H.264 provides flexible interlaced-scan video coding features, allowing 16�16 macroblocks in field mode compared with 16�8 half-macroblocks in MPEG-2. An enhanced lossless macroblock representation mode allowing perfect representation of specific regions while ordinarily using substantially fewer bits than the PCM mode. Picture-adaptive frame-field coding, allows a freely-selected mixture of pictures coded as MBAFF frames with pictures coded as individual single fields (half frames) of interlaced video.

� H.264 is more attractive for video network delivery and for delivery of HD, high definition video.

� H.264 or AVC is an open format with published specification and is available for anyone to implement.

Let me now interpret this for you: h.264 can compress files into smaller pieces than mpeg4, allowing for more video storage ability using h.264 without increased hard drive space. Next time you need the answer to a complicated question, just skip to the bottom of the article!
